Community Engagement

Radio Mewat follows the philosophy “Of the people, By the people, For the People” as its work ethic. Being a community radio, its mandate is to serve the people.

Run and managed by community members, the radio understands the sensitivities, local practices and existing behaviour of the people it caters to. The team members consistently and regularly interact with the community members on various issues - health, education, gender-based violence, agriculture, among others. The programs are tailored according to the needs of the community and enable individual action towards the collective goal.

The programs produced and broadcast on-air are also taken to the community members and played in small groups, followed by a discussion. This process is known as narrowcasting and ensures greater community engagement with the programs, especially those catering to women.
